VICTORIAN HOUSE RENOVATION

— in NOTTING HILL, W11

Our project was on a picturesque Notting Hill street lined with four- to five-storey Victorian terraces with original brick façades, high ceilings, detailed cornicing, and traditional sash windows.

Behind their charm, these homes often present challenges such as outdated plumbing, structural quirks, and limited site access. Careful planning is vital to navigate conservation rules, party wall agreements, and the logistics of building in a densely populated, high-value W11 location. Renovating them demands not only craftsmanship but also respect for their historic character and a meticulous approach to every phase of the build.

The Brief: Victorian house renovation

We were appointed by our long-term design partner, Thurstan, to carry out a complete renovation of this Victorian terraced house in W11. Working to the studio’s detailed schedule of works, the team undertook a full strip-out of the property, followed by the installation of bespoke joinery, a new shaker-style kitchen with a reclaimed timber island, and a series of bathrooms using high-spec materials including Clayworks finishes and sanitaryware from brands like Waterworks, Loho, and Toto.

What We Did

We delivered a full refurbishment of this Victorian terraced home, including rewiring, replumbing, damp proofing, and flooring throughout.

Appointed by design studio Thurstan, we followed their schedule of works, advising on reclaimed timber, bespoke cabinetry, and specialist wall finishes. The project included a full kitchen renovation and three bespoke bathrooms across multiple levels, each delivered with precision and craftsmanship.

To support the heavy clay bathroom, we reinforced the joists and completed damp proofing, terrace landscaping, external door restoration, and specialist Bauwerk Colour limewash for added texture and depth. With rear access restricted, all materials and waste went through the front stairwell, keeping the site clean, deliveries discreet, and neighbours informed to minimise disruption over the 12-week build.

Selected suppliers

We worked with a curated selection of premium suppliers, chosen for their craftsmanship, quality materials and compatibility with the project’s design vision.

Final Result: Victorian Terraced House Reimagined

This Victorian terrace has been transformed into a serene, light-filled home with an open-plan kitchen-living space, reconfigured layout, and a calm, cohesive finish throughout.

The kitchen features hand-painted shaker-style cabinetry, quartz worktops, and brass hardware, combining timeless style with everyday functionality.

The dining space opens directly onto the landscaped terrace, framed by steel doors that flood the interior with natural light. A calm, neutral palette ties the joinery and flooring together, creating an elegant setting for everyday living and entertaining.

Bespoke joinery was installed throughout, including fitted wardrobes in soft, neutral tones. Natural finishes and muted walls create a restful atmosphere, designed for both comfort and longevity.
